Students in 8th grade Spanish part 2 learned some fun vocabulary this week to cheer on our Milwaukee Brewers! They learned their positions in Spanish and found out their ages, countries from, and languages they speak! They concluded the lesson by playing a game of Run, Write, Draw to reinforce the vocabulary learned!

7 Days Until Election Day - November 3rd Facilities Referendum
One component of the 2026 Facilities Referendum is a proposed expansion of the northeast side of the High School that would include new science classrooms and labs, CTE food/culinary space, a STEM lab (science, technology, engineering and math), and the library.
But before we look ahead, let’s take a look back at our High School Classrooms!

This 1970 yearbook photo captures the science classroom decades ago, complete with chalkboards, lab stations, and the original shower station.
NOW
Fast forward to today, and the classroom may look a little different, but some things are surprisingly the same. The chalkboards have been replaced with whiteboards, while the shower station and overall classroom layout remain the same.

Mr. Zak, Mrs. Schreurs, Mrs. Miles, Mrs. Lorge and Mrs. Renzelmann were invited to present at the National PBIS Leadership Forum in Chicago. The team shared the success that SFMS has experiencing implementing ISLA (Inclusive Skill Building Learning Approach). It was an honor to be selected by the National ISLA team out of the University of Oregon for this opportunity.
7th and 8th grade Spanish students have been participating in Wooly Week, a week of activities and games helping us learn new vocabulary and phrases to help us understand a new Spanish video! As we complete activities, we get entered into raffles to earn swag for our classroom!
Grade 6 math students engaged in measurement stations today to physically see the relationship between units. The stations helped them to understand whether it takes more or less of a different unit to measure the same quantity.
How will the November 3rd Facilities Referendum impact your taxes?
If approved by voters, the proposed $65.7 million facilities referendum is estimated to have a maximum tax impact of $16 per $100,000 of property value on the debt levy.
By paying down loans from the 2016 Middle School referendum early, the Board saved nearly $5 million in interest and eliminated eight years of payments. This proactive planning helps invest in our elementary and high schools while minimizing the tax impact on residents.

8th Grade Spanish students took their learning outside this week as they worked on saying in Spanish where they go. They wrote places they want to go on Paper Airplanes (Aviones de Papel) and then got to fly and share the locations!

Student Centered Coaching Cycles have started in Grade 6! Math Specialist Mrs. Gehri is teaming up with math teacher Ms. Szczepanski to co-teach the unit on Unit Rates and Percentages. This week the kids learned about the Burj Khalifa and engaged in tasks that showed their thinking about how much per 1 when solving problems about how long it would take to wash all the windows or scale the building! Which the kids learned today someone did!! The students led the lesson sharing their multiple strategies.
