Thank you, Josh and Tyler!!!

While the bubbles definitely made this lab fun, there was some serious science happening behind the scenes! Grade 7 Students developed hypotheses, identified variables and controls, made careful measurements, collected both quantitative and qualitative data, completed repeated trials, and calculated averages. Next, they’ll use their class data to construct a Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER) argument supported by actual evidence.

Students in Mrs. Blankenburg's seventh grade math class worked in small groups sorting images depending on the correct scaled factors. They then discussed the relationship between the scaled factors and the math involved in determining if the images were indeed scaled copies of each other, and the impact the size of the scale factor has on the copy. In real life we often see this type of math found in blueprints, and maps.

SOAR is officially launched! The past two weeks the middle school teachers, coaches and administrators have spent each day launching our new SOAR rotations that have included Article of Week, Graph of the Week, Silent Reading, and Task Cards to name a few. In between students being drafted into small groups for re-engagement or enrichment opportunities, students will now have greater choice in activities they can engage in.
