6th grade students in Miss Jilly’s Science class took their learning outside today! As part of our Weather, Climate, and Water Cycling unit, students compared temperatures near different ground surfaces with temperatures about 4 feet above the surface. They also measured incoming and reflected light on different ground surfaces to gather evidence about why the air near the ground can be warmer than the air higher up. It was a great day for some hands-on science and real-world data collection!

In case you missed our information session this week, there’s another opportunity to join us!

Our second Referendum Information Session & School Tour is scheduled for Monday, September 28th, at the High School.

Each session will include a brief presentation covering the needs facing our schools, the proposed solution, the estimated tax impact, and an optional school tour to see the facilities firsthand.

When: Monday, September 28th @ 6:00 PM
Where: Sheboygan Falls High School

If you are unable to attend, we have two more meetings scheduled for October 12th (HS) and October 13th (ES), both starting at 6:00 PM.

Students in Ms. Dolack's 8th ELA class are "slam-dunking" into their first book, "The Crossover," by author Kwame Alexander. This Newberry Award winning novel uses the novel-in-verse format to tell the story of a middle school basketball player and explores themes of family and growing up. What makes this book unique is that every "chapter" moves the action forward using different types of poetry. To help define characters and their relationships, student groups selected a main player and created a "basketball card" which analyzed how the characters see themselves and how they fit into their world. Not only did we discover reflective writers, but some truly exceptional artists, as well!

Today in Grade 7, Superintendent Mr. Pethan visited our math classroom to engage with students on determining if two scales were equivalent through a card sort activity. His visit is part of his ongoing commitment to being in the classrooms with the students to see the learning in live time.

This November 3rd will be the third time Sheboygan Falls voters have considered a referendum to address the needs of our Elementary and High School. So, how did we get here?

Congratulations to Sheboygan Falls educators Heather Gehri, MS Math Coach, and Janis Jarosch, HS School Counselor, who were two of the five educators nominated for the 2026 Workforce Development Golden Apple through the Sheboygan Co. Chamber of Commerce. And, congratulations to Ms. Jarosch, who was recognized as the 2026 Golden Apple Educator of the Year!

The Golden Apple award annually recognizes one educator in the community who plays a significant role in furthering the education of local students.

While the bubbles definitely made this lab fun, there was some serious science happening behind the scenes! Grade 7 Students developed hypotheses, identified variables and controls, made careful measurements, collected both quantitative and qualitative data, completed repeated trials, and calculated averages. Next, they’ll use their class data to construct a Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER) argument supported by actual evidence.
