Middle School Counseling
The School District of Sheboygan Falls School Counseling Department’s vision statement is “Investing in You.” School Counselors provide direct services to students through classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. School Counselors also provide indirect services to students through collaboration with school staff, community agencies, and parents in order to best meet the needs of ALL students. By investing in our students, our School Counselors help students to learn the importance of investing in themselves.
Classroom Lessons
School Counselors visit classrooms multiple times throughout the school year and have an opportunity to work with every student during their classroom lessons. Topics of School Counseling lessons are focused on the three domains of the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model: Career, Academic, and Social Emotional. Each lesson also addresses the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies of Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Social Awareness.
Small Group Counseling
School Counselors offer small group counseling sessions with a focus on particular topics related to the SEL competencies. Small groups typically meet once a week for a total of six weeks. Small group counseling topics may include: friendship, social skills, grief, divorce, anger management, or self esteem.
Individual Counseling
School Counselors provide individual counseling services to students who can benefit from one-on-one support. School Counselors are prepared to recognize and respond to student needs and assist students and families seeking resources. Individual Counseling services focus on social emotional, academic, or career related concerns.
