In June of 2023, a group of teachers and staff met to discuss potential changes to the academic calendar, with the goal of maximizing student and teacher engagement in learning and instruction.
Identified Goals of the Committee:
- Reduce the number of instructional days in June
- Provide a consistent instructional schedule for students Monday - Friday
- Maximize professional development by dedicating a full day, instead of Wednesday afternoons
- Enhance student supervision/engagement in after-school activities
- Offer families the opportunity to use periodic, longer weekends/holidays for family vacations/appointments instead of instructional days
Important Proposed Changes:
- No early dismissal on Wednesdays
- The 4K program will run Monday through Thursday
- More Fridays during the school year without students reporting; teacher professional development opportunities
- School Start Time Changes
- Elementary School: 7:55 am - 3:08 pm
- AM 4K: 7:55am - 10:55am
- PM 4K: 12:05 pm - 3:08 pm
- Middle School: 7:50 am - 3:10 pm
- High School: 7:45 am - 3:15 pm
- Start / End Dates
- 2024-25 ~ September 3rd, 2024 - May 30th, 2025 (Draft Calendar Here)
